Open Source & Third-Party Software Compliance Notice

NaviNet Marine Electronics

NaviNet products may incorporate, distribute, or interoperate with third-party open-source software.

NaviNet recognizes and appreciates the work of the developers and communities responsible for these projects. Each open-source component remains the property of its respective copyright holders and is used and distributed in accordance with its applicable license.

This notice identifies the principal open-source components used in NaviNet products and provides the applicable attribution and licensing information.

1. pypilot

Project: pypilot
Original Developer: Sean D'Epagnier and pypilot contributors
License: GNU General Public License, Version 3 or later (GPLv3+)
Original Project: https://github.com/pypilot/pypilot

NaviNet autopilot systems use pypilot, an open-source marine autopilot project developed by Sean D'Epagnier and contributors.

NaviNet gratefully acknowledges Sean D'Epagnier and the pypilot community for their work and contribution to open-source marine technology.

NaviNet implementation

pypilot executes as a separate application on a Raspberry Pi.

The version of pypilot distributed by NaviNet is used without modifications to the pypilot source code.

NaviNet-developed ESP32 firmware is independently developed software running on separate hardware. It does not incorporate or copy pypilot source code.

Communication between NaviNet ESP32 components and the Raspberry Pi running pypilot takes place through network interfaces using TCP/IP.

A separate NaviNet ESP32 protocol-conversion component may receive marine network data, including NMEA 2000 data, convert applicable information to NMEA 0183 or other supported formats, and communicate that information over the network.

This independently developed firmware does not incorporate pypilot source code.

pypilot licensing

pypilot remains subject to the GNU General Public License applicable to the version distributed with the NaviNet product.

Nothing in NaviNet's commercial terms is intended to restrict any rights granted to users under the GNU General Public License with respect to pypilot.

The complete corresponding source code for the version of pypilot distributed with the applicable NaviNet product, together with the applicable license information, is available from:
